About Legend Golden Retrievers

Welcome to our website. Dogs have been a passion of mine as far back as I can remember. Although officially founded in 1985 Legend Goldens started well before that. My first Golden came into my life in 1977 the summer after finishing the fourth grade. Two years later I entered my first dog show. Since then I have never looked back.     The following decades have brought many changes to our breed. Some of those changes have been positive but this is a breed that has many health problems. Paralleling my interest in dogs has been a career as a licensed veterinary technician focusing on internal medicine and surgery. It is here that I have gathered extensive knowledge into what is needed to maintain a healthy breeding program.     Following the birth of my second child I’ve personally developed a focus on special education and autism as our family was learning how to deal with these issues. This has changed the focus of our kennel from a primary conformation kennel with some therapy dogs to a primary therapy and service oriented kennel. We do plan to keep dogs in the conformation and obedience ring as time allows. .     The goal for our kennel is to provide families with well balanced Goldens both mentally and physically. All of the dogs that we own are family pets first and foremost. However, before we breed each dog must exhibit not only exceptional health but also be able to prove that it is able to compete in some aspect of the show ring or provide service in some manner.     Being a small kennel we do not breed often. The litters that we do breed are extensively socialized into a home setting. Once you have purchased a dog from us we will continue to provide you with support and help whenever you should need it. In return we ask that you remember that they are a part of our family and ask that you treat them with the love and respect that they deserve. They have a history. They are a Legend.
